ABOUT THE ENGLISH DEPARTMENT

The Department of English has traditionally formed the bedrock on which the engineering education gets actualized through English thereby exerting a catalytic influence on Engineering and Technology. Unlike the other core departments, the Department of English puts high premium on students' communication skills, soft skills, and distinctive cognitive skills like analysis and reasoning in order to make them 'industry ready'

The Department of English since its inception in 1980 has been supporting all the departments viz. CE, ECE, CSE, EEE, EIE,IT, ME, PE, and MCA. It has been actively involving in conceiving, planning,

  

implementing and monitoring student-centric, co-curricular and career development activities like soft skills training, verbal-analytical testing, counselling, developing presentation skills, conducting campus placement oriented training, to name a few. Students' seminars, guest lectures by experts from academia and industry, ingenious assignments, use of interactive multimedia in the classroom, teachers' notes along with formative and summative evaluations are some of the innovative contributions of the Department to the new Teaching Learning Process adopted by the College.

The Department is well equipped with the latest multi-media English Language Communication Laboratories wherein the full-fledged computer assisted language learning is imparted to students of B. E (I year)

Highly experienced faculty (over 10 years of teaching experience), through their passionate energetic commitment and unfailing punctuality contribute to imparting qualitative and standard education envisioned by the College. Presently the Department has 1 Associate professor and 5 Assistant Professors actively involved in academic leadership activities.
