ABOUT THE MATHEMATICS DEPARTMENT

The Muffakham Jah College of Engg. & Technology Started in the academic year 1980-1981. Intiallyit had only I/IV classes in 3 branches namely Civil Engg, Mechanical Engg,and the E.C.E. Branches. During that period B.E. I/IV class syllabus consisted of only the Science and Humanities along with Engg Graphics and Engg Workshop.

Hence the teachers appointed were mainly 2 in Mathematics (namely Mr. S.A.Ghani (Reader) and Mr. Ahmed Waheedullah) , 3 in Physics and 3 in Chemistry, 2 in Mechaniocal Engg and one in English. Later on with the addition of new Branches and additional sections the

 

Mathematics Department now has 9 teachers out of which 4 are involved in the teaching of B.E.II/IV and M.C.A. I/III and 5 are exclusively teaching B.E.I/IV classes. The results for these classes are very good and the student feedback is also very good.

Prof Ahmed Waheedullah is the Head of the Department Mathematics since 1985.

Three teachers namely Mr. Syed Iqbal Ahmed, Mr. Ahmed Waheedullah and Mr. Jafer Sadiq obtained their doctorate degrees while in service at this College and 3 have obtained the M.Phil degrees and some are persuing research for the Ph. D degree.

Earler the College had a research Centre leading to Ph. D Degree in Mathematics from Osmania University with Dr. Ahmed Waheedullah as the research Supervisor and two students have obtained their Ph.D in Mathematics from Osmania University under his supervision. Due to change in policy of the University the private Colleges are denied the Research Centres now.

There are 2 Professors, one Associate Professor and 5 Assistant Professors in the Mathematics Department at present and one post of Assistant Professor is to be filled up for which the press note has already come in the newspapers..
