Sponsored Research Projects
 
 

1. Ongoing Research Projects:

a. A research project titled “Smart Fluid Vibration Damper” by Mr. N. Seetharamiah, Associate Professor, M.E.D., got sanction of an amount Rs. 5 Lakhs under Research Promotional Scheme from A.I.C.T.E., New Delhi in the year 2008. Duration of this project will be of Three years.
2. In-house R & D projects sanctioned and completed:
  • Design and optimization of equipment for preparing fuel briquettes from waste materials – Dr. Aliuddin Ansari, Professor, MED .
  • Design of a Low Cost Wheel Chair - Mrs. Ishrat M.M, Associate Professor, MED.
 
The Mechanical Engineering Department was awarded a sponsored research project by ARDB, Ministry of Defence on "Ground Effect Aerodynamics of Cambered Wings" which has been successfully completed in 2003. The department has been awarded a project titled "Design Modifications in IC Engines (Compression Ignition Type) to use Hydrogen as Fuel" by the AICTE under its R & D scheme. This project is funded to the tune of Rs. 6 lakhs.
 
Centre for Environment and Socio-Responsive Engineering
The Centre is engaged in creating awareness about environmental issues among the Engineering students. It is presently engaged in two projects, one dealing with the Water Sanitation-Solid Waste Management of a low income locality in Hyderabad and the other with Design of Natural Home. Several students belonging to the Mechanical and Civil Engineering are working on these projects. International papers have been published based on the work being carried out by the Centre.
 
Centre for Continuous Improvement of Total Quality in Executive Skills of Students (Cities)
The Centre for Continuous Improvement of Total Quality in Executive Skills of Students was established with the aim to improve personality and communication skills of the students through interactive programs and sessions. Centre for Innovative Construction Materials and Technologies
This Centre was established as a joint collaboration between the Civil Engineering Department and Maxpertise LLC, an American company specializing in materials technologies. It aims to create awareness and popularize environment friendly building materials and technologies as a means of sustainable development. Several simple research projects in the area of innovative building materials utilizing flyash and other waste products are in progress.

  • Hydrogen fuelled Compression Ignition Engine project has been sponsored by AICTE with a grant of Rs.6 Lakhs
  • A research project "Experimental Investigation on Ground Effect Aerodynamics of Cambered Wings”, is sponsored by ARDB, Ministry of Defence, New Delhi having a total grant of Rs. 7 Lakhs
  • The SAE Baja Contest All terrain Vehicle fabrication cost is being sponsored by Satyam
  • A student project "Solar Car”, is sponsored by APCOST, Andhra Pradesh
  • A student project "Robot Arm”, is sponsored by APCOST, Andhra Pradesh
  • A student project "Design and Fabrication of AGV” is sponsored by APCOST,Andhra Pradesh
  • A research project on "Bio-diesel Hydrogen dual fuel Combustion and Emission Analysis” under Mr. Mohd. Masood as Principal Investigator is being carried out as an extension of AICTE Project.
 
 
Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE)

1. Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) – MJCET Chapter has conducted a two day National Level symposium "CARS n BOTS” on 8th and 9th September, 2006. Dr. Balaji Utla, Director, Satyam Foundation was the Guest of Honour for the occasion. More than 500 students participated in the symposium. The symposium consisted of five robotics events and five automotive events and 56 robots and 20 working models were demonstrated during the event. It had seminars by Dr.Bipin Indrukhya, Professor from IIIT and Ashwin Palaparthy, CEO, Valueminds. The event was sponsored by 75 companies.

2. Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) INDIA is conducting a National level contest BAJA SAE INDIA 07. For this event the contestants have to Design and Fabricate an all Terrain Vehicle, which will be tested in December 2007 at NATRIP(National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project – Govt. of India Undertaking)-Chennai under the supervision of SAE INDIA-Western & Southern sections. Student chapters from Institutes all over India have participated in the preliminary interview to qualify for the participation in this contest. 27 teams were selected by SAE India after the interview. SAE – MJCET chapter is the only college chapter selected from Andhra Pradesh. This project will cost around Rs.2Lakhs which will be borne by the students.

3. SAE MJCET Chapter in collaboration with IIT-Kharagpur has conducted a seminar on "Robotics” – to learn the tips, tricks and all that required to make a robot on 29th September, 2006 at 4.00 P.M in seminar Hall of MJCET

 
EWB (Engineers Without Borders)

The EWB- MJCET chapter team which works with the motto of providing engineering solutions for the betterment of the underprivileged society has won second prize in the Prestigious International "Mondialogo Engineering Award” which is organized by Daimler Chrysler and UNESCO. The student team had worked in collaboration with Karlsruhe German University students.

The Chapter also works in collaboration with Satyam Foundation, Rotary club and foreign EWB chapters The EWB MJCET Chapter is conducting a novel competition for the students - GREEN AWARD Competitiveness for innovative sustainable technologies.
