Department of

Chemistry

The Chemistry Department has advance infrastructural ambience headed by Dr. V. Shanthi. The Department has a dedicated task bound team consisting of one Professor, one Associate Professor, three Assistant Professors.

The Chemistry Department features a cutting-edge learning environment for teaching and learning, with a strong emphasis on practicals where student performance is assessed using clear guidelines. The curriculum is made more interesting by extending it to the applied aspects wherever possible like, Ground water analysis using Instrumental Analytical Techniques. The practicals are also taken as a means to bring about changes in the attitude of the students by inculcating values in them.

Chemistry faculty has published textbooks and modules that support the teaching of chemistryand science at the college level, including a quantitative chemical analysis textbook.

Faculties have published more than 50 research articles in various well-reputed national and international journals in the last decade.

The members of the Department are instilled with a strong desire to seek and investigate unknown areas of research.

Faculty is funded by R&D cell MJCET to work on campus and national projects.

The department has Patent granted for the title of invention: process and system for efficient biodiesel production, patent no: 372207. Dt: 31-12-2019 for a period of 20yrs.

The Department of Chemistry has successfully designed, developed and completed the patented project and the project is ready for technology transfer.

The Chemistry Department consists of laboratories

  • Volumetric Analysis Laboratory
  • Instrumental Chemical Analysis Laboratory
  • Research and Consultancy Laboratory
