About the Department

Established in the year 1986, the CSE Department offers a 4-Year BE (CSE) Degree with annual intake of 480. The computer center has 12 laboratories catering to the needs of BE (CSE) students. The computer centre infrastructure consists of 6 servers (Compaq, IBM and Wipro), 339 desktop computer systems complemented by 36 licensed software like Microsoft Products under Campus and School Agreement (CASA), Rational Enterprise Suite (RES), Rational Software Architect (RSA), Macro Media Studio, Linux, COGNOS Data Mining Tool, WEKA Data Mining Tool, KEIL Embedded System Software, QUALNET Network Simulator, MATLAB, C/C++/Java IDE, etc along with 65 network components (LAN/WAN), 100 Microprocessor Trainer kits, 38 Embedded System kits.

The Department has established “Centre for Innovative Computing” Lab in October 2015 with 60- seater capacity. This lab has All-in-One computer systems with latest configuration and internet connection to cater to the needs of students. This lab is used for conducting training programs for the students and faculty viz. Microsoft Technology associate (MTA) Certification under Microsoft IT Academy (MSITA), IIT-Bombay Workshops, etc just to name a few.

The Department has established “Khan Lateef Mohammed Khan (Centre for Advanced Computing & Informatics)” Lab with a 66 seater capacity and 66 Latest All in One Computer Systems.

Internet access is provided through a 500 Mbps leased line from Pioneer powers.

In 2010, New Programme named M.Tech. (CSE) was started with an intake strength of 18, which was further increased in 2024 to 30. The M.Tech. computer center has 2 laboratories catering to the needs of the course. For assisting projects licensed software like MATLAB and Qualnet are made available, along with other open sources.

In 2018, Ph.D(CSE) research centre affiliated to OU was established with 6 research supervisors.

The Computer Science and Engineering Department has 36 well experienced and qualified faculty members. Among them there are 6 Doctorates and 17 are pursuing their Doctorate degrees.

Program Education Objectives (PEO's)


1. Graduates will demonstrate technical skills and leadership in their chosen fields of employment by solving real time problems using current techniques and tools.

Head of Department

Prof. Syed Shabbeer Ahmad was born on 1 April 1976. He received his B.Tech(CSE) in 1999. He obtained his M.Tech(IT) in 2004 and completed an additional M.Tech(CSE) in 2011. He was awarded a Ph.D(CSE) in 2015 and subsequently completed his Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Computer Science and Engineering in 2024. He is a ratified Professor in Computer Science and Engineering from JNTU, Hyderabad and from Osmania University. In 2018, he was also ratified as a Ph.D. Research Supervisor by Osmania University in the field of Computer Science and Engineering. 4 Research scholars have successfully completed their Ph.D. (CSE) from Osmania University under his supervision in the areas of Machine Learning, Data Science, Cloud Computing, Optimization Algorithms, Image Processing, Neural Networks, and Data Mining.

Prof. Shabbeer is currently serving as Professor and Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Muffakham Jah College of Engineering and Technology, Hyderabad. He is also serving as the Chairman, Board of Studies (BoS) for the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at MJCET and as a Board of Studies (BoS) Member in Computer Science and Engineering at Osmania University. With over 25 years of teaching experience, Prof. Shabbeer has served in several reputed NBA and NAAC accredited engineering colleges in Hyderabad. He has demonstrated outstanding academic leadership and administrative excellence while serving as Head of the Department and Principal in engineering colleges affiliated with OU, JNTUH, and JNTUA.

Post-Doctoral Fellow (CSE).

Prof.Shabbeer has published 25 research papers in various national and international journals and conferences. He has successfully guided over 50 B.E./B.Tech. projects and 25 M.E./M.Tech. projects.

His major research interests include Image Processing, Data Science, Quantum Computing, Cyber Security, Cloud Computing, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, and Optimization Algorithms. As a passionate academician and researcher, he has delivered several distinguished lectures in workshops and Faculty Development Programs on emerging technologies including Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Algorithms, Data Mining, and Information Security. His research contributions have received Best Paper Awards at reputed international conferences on multiple occasions.

Prof.Shabbeer also published a number of patents and books . He possesses extensive expertise in designing academic curricula and framing syllabi in Computer Science and Engineering aligned with the latest developments in the software industry.
He is the recipient of several prestigious awards and grants in recognition of his significant contributions to engineering education and research. He has served as a panel member for staff selection committees and Board of Studies (BOS) member for various colleges and universities. He has also contributed as a member of steering committees for international conferences.

Prof. Shabbeer has played a key role in establishing collaborations and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with industries and organizations to facilitate training, internships, and project development in emerging technologies. Under his leadership, numerous Faculty Development Programs (FDPs) and in-house training programs on the latest technologies have been conducted for faculty members to enhance teaching, research, and technical expertise in emerging domains. He has also actively encouraged and organized Project Expos, Technical Quizzes, Hackathons, Coding Competitions, and Technical Symposiums to nurture innovation, creativity, and problem-solving skills among students.

At Muffakham Jah College of Engineering and Technology, he has been instrumental in introducing innovative academic and technical initiatives within the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. These initiatives include training programs in Web Development using PHP, Blockchain Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Data Science. He has also initiated 24-hour hackathons, summer internships, and skill development programs in association with organizations such as Computer Society of India, Microsoft Student Society, and IEEE Computer Society to equip students with strong programming and technical competencies.

With profound academic knowledge, commendable administrative capabilities, and a strong commitment to professional networking, Prof. Shabbeer has established a vibrant relationship with the alumni community. Through his initiatives, alumni actively participate in delivering expert sessions on emerging industry trends, thereby strengthening industry-academia interaction and student development.
