The department has well qualified and experienced faculty comprising of 5 Professors, 4 Associate Professors , 15 Assistant Professors with a total strength of 24 supported by 14 Non-teaching staff. The department has 6 Ph.D holders and 10 faculty members with more than 20 years of teaching experience. The department has 04 recognized research supervisors approved by Osmania University with 20 research scholars pursuing Ph.D under the supervision of them. Faculty members published numerous papers in National and International journals and also presented papers in conferences. The department has organized an International conference in December 2019. National seminars, conferences and workshops are also organized at regular intervals.
The Civil Engg. department is well equipped with laboratories for all the courses offered. The department has consistently achieved 4-5 university ranks every year. The department has established students Professional chapters which are affiliated to Indian Concrete Institute (ICI), Institution of Engineers (IE) and IGBC. The ICI students chapter has won National Best Young students chapter award in 2013 besides “Best modeling” award in 2015. Two students have won National championship quiz organized by Dalmia cements in 2013 with a cash award of Rs. 50,000/-. The final year project of Civil engg was honoured with NIT KOZHIKODE National award for the best project work in Civil Engg in 2006. The students exhibited a number of working models of Civil Engineering structures during the technical festivals organized annually. The department has done a number of consultancy works related to roads , buildings and material testing.

The Department of Civil Engineering at MJCET was started in 1980, at the time of establishment of the college. It is one of the oldest departments of the college offering Undergraduate, Post-Graduate and Doctorate programmes. It has highly qualified and experienced faculty, with well equipped laboratories and a Research Centre recognized by the Osmania University. 18 Research Scholars are presently pursuing Doctoral degree under 4 recognized Research Supervisors of the department. The department also offers consultancy services in the field of Civil Engineering to various Government and private agencies.
Civil Engineering is a vast comprehensive area dealing with primary needs like Housing, Water Supply, Transportation, Air & Water Pollution etc. for the betterment of Human Kind.
The vision of the department is to prepare the students for the overall development and participate in the overall infrastructure development of our nation.
The students are imparted with Basic Engineering Concept and the latest developments with help of modern pedagogy methods. The students are highly encouraged to obtained real-time experience with the help of internships from reputed Civil Engineering Firms. They are also exposed with recent sustainable methods through guest lectures by eminent persons industry.
The staff of CED is highly motivated and committed to impart latest Technologies and Soft skills to the students to place them ahead of others in this competitive world.
